Spyderco Ambitious/Persistence/Tenacious/Resilience: A System Of Folding Knives

15

In this video I look at four knives from Spyderco. The Ambitious, Persistence, Tenacious, and Resilience. These knives are Syderco’s “Value Folders” and are named after admirable human qualities. A quote from Spyderco “Our goal is to offer affordable folders with five-star features: G-10 handles, Walker LinerLocks, jimping, lined lanyard holes and skeletonized full-length internal liners” I have to say that in my opinion they have succeeded admirably. These truly are high value knives that offer high quality and excellent performance. In this video I do not review each knife in detail. Rather, I look at them as a system of knives. A person might have two or more of these for various uses and situations. The advantage being that carry, deployment, overall feel and blade type are consistent no matter which knife is being carried and used. Conclusion: These are knives that will not disappoint regardless of which model or models you choose. Value is outstanding, and the quality is very much typical Spyderco. @ryanrrx The Rajah are made by cold Steel, not Spyderco.

ryanrrx @ 5:03 am #

The smaller rajah that is, not sure which one that is

ryanrrx @ 5:21 am #

There saying the paramilitary 2 is the biggest spyderco made to date, I just checked! I understand what your saying as a series, I seen the resilience in comparison to the rajah in another video, then I realized it’s pretty big lol

AussieMark909 @ 6:08 am #

@ryanrrx In this vid I’m only refering to this line of knives, and I don’t think Spyderco will go bigger in this series. You’re right, I think the Police model has a slightly longer blade than the Resilience.

I thought the military and military 2 police series were the biggest ? Military 2 being the biggest over all??

@MrHALOCOUST After paining the logo is not visable, it seems to be very lightly etched. I have no movement on the pivot of any of these. However, I’m rotating quite a few knives through my EDC right now so they have not been subjected to seriously hard use. Thanks for watching.

Very nice video m8.I got 2 questions. After u painted the pocket clips the spyderco logo on them is still visible or paint just fill that logo? And after using the knife (resilience or tenacious)blade starts to play quickly? Take care…

Good vid, thanks. Although I only own the Resilience, I agree with you seeing them as a knife system…….Cheers.

My Ambitious is the same. I thought it was just mine but maybe thats just how they are.

@1lupus I agree, blade length and also blade shape are big factors in the angst stakes. Funny how if it is a swiss army knife (any model) it is always OK. The ultimate politically correct EDC knife?

1lupus @ 10:13 am #

I normally like my blades like I like my women – Small, well formed and lightly oiled. I would make an exception in the case of the Resilience. Although I do own a S30V Buck Kalinga Pro folder with Rosewood one big blade . Iknow what you mean about the perception of knives in an office. At work my Swiss Army doesn’t cause a ripple, the other blade that doesn’t cause angst is my Boker Gnome. My theory is the closer the knife approachs a Stanley knives proportions, the less people freak out.

@TheLazySpoiledKitty The Ambitious has really suprised me, it performs so well yet is so small. Fast becoming a favorite with me. Thanks for watching.
